Hey Yo from the Funk Buddha. Join me on New Years Eve
for a ritualized performance spectacle to bring in 2007.
I will be leading a troop of performers including body
balancers and belly dancers with the backing of live
Brazilian drums from the Maracatu drum core. All this is
part of the massive New Years benefit event detailed

The Experience:
This is the New Years you dream of. We've taken over
three floors of a downtown Manhattan brownstone/cabaret
club and built out a plush dreamscape of seductive
performance, intoxicating beats, cozy corners and a
massive midnight spectacle of drums, acrobatics and
endless bottles of champagne.

Expect the decadence of French Quarter New Orleans spiked
with the opulence of a New York City speakeasy.

In the room of Dreams:

DJ Rich Medina breathes, and revels in sharing the type of
music that makes a listener remember his soul. It is this
awareness of soul that brings listeners back time and
again to hear Rich spin: heads nod, bodies sway, emotions
expand and coalesce. Experience this world-renowned music
flavor connecting the dots between hip-hop, afro-beat, and
bass heavy future soul.

Swingsett of Ism Records plays through the universal
language of hip-hop tinged drum-and-bass, while Adam Matta
brings the dreamy beats guaranteed to bring back memories
of funk infused Brooklyn block parties.

At midnight the mass spectacle turns wild as the Maracatu
drum core joins Akim Funk Buddha in initiating the New
Year in a ritualized performance of acrobatic delicacy and
carnal intensity. Simultaneously hundreds of bottles of
Champagne will be distributed through the crowd while fire
spinners and burlesque performers complete the ritual with
glamour and decadence that you can taste and touch.

In the Cabaret Lounge:

Gemini and Scorpio present an explosive mix of circus,
burlesque, comedy and music, served with an abundance of
charm, poetry and wit. Here in New York City for the first
time ever, Vaudeville Cabaret Club is a four-star show
originating at the infamous Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Tyler Fyre, infamous Daredevil, Fire Eater, Sword
Swallower and Glass Eater, hosts a night of delicious
mayhem.

Be seduced by the timeless burlesque of Ooh La Luz, the
lusciously infamous duo from San Francisco, in New York
for one night only. Almost unspeakably sexy, Ooh-La-Luz
perform in extravagant costumes of their own design,
created just for this event. A tantalizing step back into
the early 20th century, ribald and classy in equal parts.

Be thrilled by the The Lady Aye, the Sweetheart of the
Sideshow, a fire eater, escape artist and double
blockhead. Ms. Aye has been seen up and down the East
Coast solo and with her sideshow, The Pyrate Sisters'
All-Girl Sideshow, and has been named a "up and coming
burlesque babe" by The Village Voices 2006 Best of NY
issue. Among her many wonders is the world's only
corset-shaped bed of nails.

Be moved by The Ruel String Band, a classic jazz lift-off
to clown antics and mischievous gaming by hilarious
Ambrose Martos of Happy Hour Clowns and delightful Poofy
du Vey, sweet hoop moves by GrooveHoops, genuine Weimar
cabaret sound by Micaela Leon, and very special guest
Miguel Strong, vaudevillian guitar god of The Yard Dogs
Roadshow, roving entertainment by Lucky and the ritualizer
tribe from Boring Incorporated.

The Benefit:
One year ago, Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in
the greatest national disaster in recent American history.

Breached levees and rising flood waters forced people to
abandon this great city, and the world watched in
disbelief as government at all levels failed to provide
timely and effective relief. The cost in human lives and
dislocated families, and the loss of property and
communities, has exacted a toll that will never be
forgotten... and is still being felt today.

The massive effort to support the devastated 9th Ward in
New Orleans continues. Funds raised at this event will go
to benefit Common Ground Relief and the Lower 9th Ward
Neighborhood Empowerment Network Association.

Two Thousand Seven will be the best year of your life.

BI-TRIP www.thebitrip.com Bi-TriP (Bi-Triangle Performance) is a dance-based performance company by Japanese dancers and was founded by Kenichi Ebina, Haruki Kai and Atsushi Suzuki in 2001. BiTriP's performance is a blend of hip-hop, jazz, modern, ethnic, mime, magic, and circus. BiTriP was the first ever Japanese winner of Grand Championship at the Amateur Night, Apollo Theater (2001).

TAKAHIRO Dancer TAKAHIRO is known for blending breakdance, mimes and influences from various parts of the world. He moved to New York from his native country Japan to pursue and develop his solo career. He has recently won the 2005 Apollo Theater Amateur Night Dance contest and placed 3rd in the entire competition. He has also been chosen for an ad campaign for Italian clothing line FREDDY for Spring 2006.

This is mainly for the Halloween Parade Oct 31 from 8 to 10p.m. you are all invited.

This will be followed by a Concrete Ritual from about 10p.m. to 11p.m. from there we will celebrate our way into perhaps several parties or maybe just one if it is hot.

Thanks for all who came through.Many of us have a varried schedules so we may not always be able to have rehersal together.

Peter and Akim talked about the game plan for future shows you will all soon be notified about.
Some Sundays in Nov.

Urban legend Jazzy J came by to give a work out session. We began to combine Tai Chi and the locking movments.

Sonic Wash came by to see and talk but was reminded that the Monday sessions are going to be for actualization.

Mayuna & Hyun came later and did some body balancing and martial arts with akim.
